Yesterday (6/4), Vice President Li Wei-Qiang and Vice President Wang Shu-Jun represented Taipei Veterans General Hospital to receive a delegation of 26 representatives from various Thai medical institutions for a smart healthcare exchange visit to the three major AI centers. This visit was guided by the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Information Department and arranged with assistance from the Industrial Technology Research Institute's Industry Technology International Strategy Development Institute, aiming to strengthen cooperation opportunities between Taiwan and Thailand in the field of AI smart healthcare and promote the deepening and implementation of cross-border AI verification and clinical trial cooperation mechanisms.

The delegation members covered many representative medical universities and medical institutions in Thailand, including Thailand's first higher education institution Mahidol University and its affiliated Ramathibodi Hospital and Thammasat University, as well as Sa Kaeo Crown Prince Hospital, and related medical industry representatives RFS Co., Ltd. (Ramathibodi Facilities Services) and Matria Medical Corporation Ltd. (MMC), to jointly explore the possibilities of cross-border cooperation and clinical applications of smart healthcare technology.

During the visit, the delegation gained in-depth understanding of Taipei Veterans General Hospital's practical experience and concrete achievements in smart healthcare promotion, AI clinical applications, and digital transformation through special presentations and symposiums. Among them, Dr. Cheng Hao-Min, Executive Secretary of the Smart Healthcare Committee, introduced the clinical capabilities and integrated application scenarios of the hospital's three major AI centers, demonstrating the practical foundation of cross-departmental integration and intelligent decision support systems. Dr. Hu Yu-Feng from the Department of Cardiology shared the clinical application results of the "Pulmonary Hypertension ECG Early Detection System," explaining how AI algorithms are used to enhance early identification and patient care efficiency. Dr. Wu Xiu-Mei from the Imaging Diagnosis Department presented the topic "Artificial Intelligence and Federated Learning for Brain Tumor Imaging," focusing on cross-institutional collaborative training mechanisms and AI model development potential under data privacy protection. These two AI software applications already in clinical use at TVGH have begun cross-border verification and application with foreign medical institutions.

Subsequently, at the request of the Thai delegation, the group conducted a field visit to the Heavy Ion Cancer Treatment Center, personally guided by Director Liu Yu-Ming of the Heavy Ion and Radiation Oncology Department, introducing the practical applications of AI technology in precision cancer treatment. The guests expressed great appreciation for Taiwan's clinical strength and technological integration demonstrated in the fields of advanced radiation medicine and heavy ion therapy.

This exchange not only highlights Taipei Veterans General Hospital's strength and achievements as a national-level AI center clinical application hub, but also echoes the Ministry of Health and Welfare's policy direction of promoting AI implementation, certification, payment, and international integration. In the future, Taipei Veterans General Hospital will continue to integrate clinical expertise and AI innovation capabilities, working hand in hand with Thai medical institutions to carry out cross-border verification, clinical trials, and responsibility-oriented AI consulting cooperation, striving to create a smart health international cooperation model with warmth and trust.
